Ellie is particularly interested in new writing and classic texts with big themes and feelings. Collaboration is at the heart of her work, and the collaboration with movement directors and writers is integral to her creative process. Ellie aims to work with female-led teams who, like her, strive for inclusive practice, fostering space where everyone can work with confidence and openness.
Having trained and worked extensively as an actor, Ellie prides herself on speaking the same language as the cast, and is able to help guide actors towards nuanced and fierce performances as a result. Equality, diversity and representation are central to her process of assembling teams and deciding which voices shape the work. Ellie gained a first class MA in Acting from Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and her BA Hons in Performance from Salford University. After working as an actor for 8 years, she moved into directing in 2019. She is a member of SDUK & Equity. She has taught acting at various drama schools and institutions around the UK. Alongside youth workshop facilitation and pastoral work with the National Youth Orchestra. In 2021 she gained a Level 3 in Counselling. Ellie is based in Manchester, with roots in Wales and London. She speaks Welsh, loves to travel and taking long walks with her rescue dog, Jack Russell. |
